Shad is as prevalent as striped bass/rockfish, and catfish. The focus is mainly on the striped bass but the shad will show up earlier for catching on the Roanoke River. You will find some lively fishing with the Shad.

Captain Joey will help you find the right places to catch the Shad, as they rest on their upstream journey.

Shad will start migrating up the river for spawning in the March timeframe. Starting the season early with shad and later with the striped bass/rockfish.
